Dear reader,
My name is Karla. Since a very early age I became interested in meditation and mindfulness. During my university years I lived in Seattle and it was there that I attended several Buddhist temples, communities and sanghas in different Buddhist traditions. Around 2005 I took a Mindfulness-based course at the University of Washington. I found all these different practices particularly useful and gratifying in many ways.
After university I became a school teacher and continue to practice, and around 2010 I decided to follow a master program that would combine my two passions, education and mindfulness, so I enrolled in a MSc. in Education at the Free University of Brussels where I conducted a mindfulness intervention and research with Belgian and Dutch student-teachers.
After graduation I was offered a job at Leiden University in The Netherlands, first as Jr. Researcher and later as Lecturer and after that as Sr. Education and Research Officer.
Throughout all these years I have maintained a mindfulness meditation practice, and in the last several years I have been practicing with Martine Batchelor on a more secular practice with greater focus on the dismantling of unnecessary habits and the cultivation of joy in daily life as well as greater insight into my relationships and environment.
I have also followed Buddhist Geeks social mindfulness program and remain an active member of the Buddhist Geeks community.
My approach is informed by science and practice. Please feel free to contact me for a meeting if you feel so inclined. All meetings are based on dana or donation based.
May you be well and happy, and free from harmful habits and distractions.
